ROLE

Senior Product Designer

A school payments platform used across mobile app and web experiences. The work began with an accessibility uplift and the creation of a mobile-first design system from the ground up, establishing reusable foundations for more consistent product delivery.

A second phase focused on UX improvements across key app and web journeys, reducing unnecessary screens, simplifying interactions and removing friction from common ordering tasks.

My role included creating high-fidelity screens, defining reusable UI patterns, developing tokenised design system foundations, documenting interaction behaviours and working with product, technical and accessibility stakeholders to support delivery.

School payments platform app and web interface screens

Approach

The first phase established the product foundations needed for accessible, consistent delivery. I defined the core UI system across colour, typography, spacing, states, surfaces, borders, reusable components and interaction patterns, creating a mobile-first framework that could scale across app and web.

The second phase applied those foundations to broader UX improvements. I reviewed user feedback and journey friction to identify where key flows could be simplified, clarified or consolidated, with a focus on reducing unnecessary screens while preserving behaviours that existing users already understood.

Focus Areas

Product design, UX/UI design, accessibility uplift, WCAG-informed design, mobile-first design-system creation, design tokens, reusable UI patterns, mobile app design, responsive web design, interaction design, journey simplification, stakeholder alignment, design documentation and development handover.
